This entry-level civil engineering position focuses on material takeoffs (quantity calculations) and plan preparation for municipal water and sewer projects, working under senior management.
This position is responsible for analyzing plans, specifications, and site conditions to assist in the development of plans to hand off to sales and estimators to proceed with cost estimates for municipal, commercial, industrial, and private sector work.
What you will be doing: Takeoffs & Quantity Calculations: Perform detailed takeoffs for water/sewer projects, including pipe lengths (PVC, Ductile Iron), fittings, manholes, valves, fire hydrants, and trench excavation volumes.
Who will you be working for: Our client is a well-established water and sewer distributor in the Chicago metropolitan area, specializing in water mains, fire hydrants, sewer pipes, and drainage pipes.
There are two distribution centers strategically located in Chicago's Northern and Western Suburbs. With over 40 company-owned delivery vehicles and the most extensive material inventory in the Midwest.

What they are looking for: Prefer bachelor’s degree in civil engineering if no experience 0-2 years of experience (internship experience or related experience) Take off Software efficient Strong proficiency in MS Excel for calculations and data management. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6-12 months. Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering plans.
